Terms & Conditions

The following booking conditions, along with the details on the relevant trip page, will form the contract between you and UniVentures for any trip you book with us.

In this contract, ‘you’ and ‘your’ refer to the lead person who made the booking (who must be at least 18 years old at the time of the booking) and all other persons on whose behalf the booking was made.

Each trip includes:

Travel from the meeting point in Bangor (stated for each trip in its relevant itinerary) to the trip destination and return back to Bangor (which is likely to be the same as the meeting point unless otherwise stated in the itinerary)

One or more UniVentures representatives throughout the journey

The trip does not include:

All other costs incurred while on the trip

Travel insurance or any other insurance personal to you

Medications before, during, or after the trip

Food & drink costs (unless stated otherwise)

Payment Options

Bookings can be made online through our website by providing credit card, debit card, or Paypal details.

You can also make cash payments, whereby a UniVentures representative will collect the payment in person, and you will receive a booking confirmation shortly after.

Each trip requires a minimum number of bookings to run. We reserve the right to cancel any trip for which there are not enough bookings. In the event that a trip has to be cancelled, all bookings made up to that point will be refunded in full. Alternately, you may choose to transfer to another UniVentures trip (any price difference will be paid by you or refunded by us).

Changes and cancellations by you

We will try to accommodate any changes you are compelled to make, but we cannot guarantee to do so.

Only the person who made the booking may cancel. Cancellation takes effect from the date at which a written request is received.

We do not offer refunds on any of our day trips.

Cancellations for weekend trips are possible, but carry an additional charge as follows:

More than a month in advance – 35% of trip cost
Less than a month before departure – 55% of trip cost
Two weeks before departure – 75% of trip cost
7 – 3 days before departure – 95% of trip cost
48 hours before departure – 100% of trip cost

If personal circumstances force you to leave the trip early, you will have to bear any additional costs yourself.

In the event of a cancellation, we may consider the transfer of your payment towards another UniVentures trip.

You may also pass the booking to another person, provided that you notify us in advance.

Changes and cancellations by us

We reserve the right to change trip dates and arrangements. This may be necessary due to weather conditions or coach/accommodation issues.

We will try our best to inform you of any changes as soon as possible, but please understand that some variables are outside of our control. You will be given the opportunity to either accept the change, take an alternative trip with us (any price difference will be paid by you or refunded by us), or cancel and accept a full refund.

If we encounter problems severe enough to cancel the entire trip, you will be given the option to either join an alternative trip (any price difference will be paid by you or refunded by us) or a full refund of the payment.

Despite careful planning, problems may arise during our trips, for e.g. sites becoming inaccessible due to natural disasters. Under such circumstances, we will have alternate arrangements which follow our itinerary as closely as possible. We will inform you of any changes as soon as possible.

We are not liable when any unusual and unforeseeable circumstances arise which are beyond our control, the consequences of which we could not have avoided even with all due care; or when the change is not significant.

We are not liable to pay you any additional travel or any other costs, expenses or losses which you incur as a result of any change or cancellation by us, such as arranging other travel arrangements.

You agree that all these provisions are reasonable.

For our overnight trips, we will attempt to book accommodation as close as reasonably possible to the sites we visit. Accommodation will be in good quality hotels or hostels. En-suite facilities will be provided wherever possible.

We will discuss your exact accommodation requirements after you have made a booking and will try to accommodate your needs as closely as possible.

We reserve the right to change the accommodation site in case of any issues. We will inform you as soon as possible of any major changes.

Transportation delays

There is no guarantee that any trains, ferries or coaches will depart at the time specified. If they do not, we are not liable to you for any delays or cancellations of future events.

Please be aware that transport and other service providers have their own booking conditions and you will be bound by those conditions as far as service is concerned.

We will not accept responsibility for delays due to traffic and/or road conditions, vehicle breakdown or immobilization, or other circumstances that are beyond our control. In the event of such an occurrence, no compensation, consequential losses or other such claim shall be accepted.

Under such circumstances, we will strive to find alternate arrangements if possible and do whatever we can to drop you off at the specified location within a reasonable time.

Your part in our trips

UniVentures does not provide you with any travel or health insurance. We highly recommend you book a personal travel insurance if necessary.

All tickets must be purchased before you join us on any of our trips through our website or in person. Payment on the day is not accepted unless agreed with UniVentures beforehand.

All participants must be 18 years of age or over. You will be liable for any misinformation regarding your age.

No refund will be issued if you are late to the departure of the coach from Bangor.

If you inform us that you will be late beforehand, a 15minute window will be given for late arrivals. If you do not show up after this 15minute window, your booking will be deemed as cancelled and no refunds will be issued.

If you are consistently late to departures throughout the day and cause delays for the group, UniVentures has the right to refuse you further bookings. If you can easily return to the original destination (Bangor), UniVentures may leave without you if you don’t show up despite an additional 15minutes of waiting past the departure time. No compensation or additional travelling costs or claims will be accepted under such an event.

Please follow the instructions laid out by the guide. This includes health and safety information, important information on meeting points and times etc. It is your responsibility to make sure you understand the meeting times and places during the trip.

Please be aware that this extreme action will not be taken lightly, but may be necessary when the health, safety or enjoyment of other persons are at risk.
